OpenAI is testing SearchGPT

As a post on Y Combinator’s Hacker News suggested before, OpenAI is testing SearchGPT, a new AI-powered search prototype designed to deliver fast and effective answers with clear and relevant sources. By combining AI models with real-time web information, SearchGPT aims to give users a conversational search experience. Currently, it is available to a small group of users and publishers for feedback. Although temporary, the successful features of this prototype may be integrated into ChatGPT in the future. Interested users can sign up for the waitlist to try it out.

Apple brings Apple Intelligence to the iOS 18.1 dev beta

In our earlier article, ‘Apple Intelligence: AI Revolution 2.0 Is Here‘ we talked about the anticipated features and innovations expected from Apple’s latest release. Now, first version of apple intelligence is finally here, Users can experience Apple Intelligence as Apple rolls out features of its AI suite with the iOS 18.1 developer beta. Limited to users with iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and M1 devices set to U.S. English and U.S. region, users must join a waitlist to access features.

Current features include new Siri animations, text prompts, writing tools for proofreading or rewriting text, tone options, Mail app summarization, priority email sorting, one-line email previews, and smart replies. Additionally, a focus mode called “Reduce Interruptions” uses AI to display only essential notifications. Some features, such as ChatGPT integration and Image Playground, are still in development. U.S. Sues TikTok for Children's Privacy Violations

The U.S. Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance, for allegedly failing to protect children’s privacy. The lawsuit claims TikTok violated the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act by collecting personal information from users under 13 without parental consent.

Supported by the Federal Trade Commission, the suit seeks significant penalties, highlighting concerns over TikTok’s data practices. TikTok, which is also facing fines in the EU and UK, expressed disappointment, saying they had been working with the FTC for over a year and hoped for a collaborative solution instead of legal action.

Meta AI is available on Quest 3 VR headsets

Meta AI is now running on Quest 3 headsets as an experimental mode. The new Quest 3 will feature full multimodal capabilities, including real-time data retrieval via Bing. A standout feature, Meta AI with Vision, allows the Quest 3’s passthrough cameras to analyse real-world objects, a first for the headset. Although initially limited, future updates may enable users to ask about both physical and virtual objects. However, due to privacy regulations, these advanced features will initially be limited to the US and Canada.

An AI-Powered Robot Dentist Performs the First Fully Automated Procedure

An AI-controlled robot from Boston-based company Perceptive has made history by performing the first fully autonomous dental procedure on a human patient, completing the task about eight times faster than a human dentist. Using advanced 3D scanning technology, the robot can precisely model a patient’s mouth and detect cavities with 90% accuracy, eliminating the need for harmful X-rays. Watch the robot in action:

This innovation aims to streamline dental procedures, enhance patient comfort, and potentially lower costs, although it awaits FDA approval before becoming widely available.

A much better version of Spotify's is coming

Spotify is set to launch a deluxe version, offering improved audio quality and more control. This new tier aims to compete with Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Tidal. While CEO Daniel Ek did not provide a launch date, he expressed confidence that the upgrade would positively impact the music industry. Currently, Spotify Premium costs $12 per month after a recent price increase. The deluxe version will be priced around $17–$18 per month.
